As we approach the 2nd week of our stay in Sunny Byron Bay I find we are getting into a kind of flow with our daily comings and goings. Unfortunately the internet here is awful, the kids pretty much used it up the first few days and of course I uploaded a few pictures and wham, its gone. So I won't be blogging anymore. It took ages just to load this page up so I could say HI. Even facebook is a chore although I can do that from my phone for quick updates.
This week we went back to the water park again one day, went to Ballina and did some clothes shopping for the boys and I finally bought some shorts and some new swimmers. We found an awesome skate park which Zak hopes to go back to next week when our friends come up for the week. (So if you are reading this, you know who you are, pack skateboards and/or scooters a picnic day is on the agenda). It is right on the lake/beach and looks like they are putting in a new park for the little ones too. I have to say its the best kept skate park we have ever seen. No graffiti, nice and smooth and there is a huge bowl too. Will blog pictures when we get home.
Of course there have been many walks on the beach, we did the lighthouse walk which I had quite forgotten from years ago and of course ended up being a bit of a mountain climb. My legs are conquering stairs much better despite the pain in my knees, LOL, I think the muscles are beginning to help out a bit. :-) Between all the stairs at the water park and all the walking, it was the speed of which we tackled that mountain that had my heart going a hundred miles an hour. Again, pictures to come.
We have seen whales and calves frolicking in the water, dolphins too. A fighter jet took a dive right in front of us and zoomed by. A kookaburra came to visit on the balcony and was extremely friendly and we even had a couple of math lessons at the kitchen table.
Yesterday I baked a cake which was interesting as the kitchen here is not much bigger than you would have in a caravan and is not stocked with the usual trappings. My cake turned out quite nicely too considering it was baked in a casserole dish.
As nice as it is to be away, I am missing home already. I don't think I could ever really get used to this noisy road, cars zooming by constantly with the occasional party goer screaming in the early hours because they are now in a bad mood. It is not quite what I had envisioned on staying here.
Our apartment is lovely though despite the noise. I keep reminding myself of that when the noise gets too much.
Today we are going to Movie World, not thrilling from my point of view but the kids are keen so off we go. Better to be out and about than them lazing in bed all day.
Anyway I must get ready so I will catch up in a couple of weeks.
Take care. Hugs xoxox
